The Center for Full

University of Missouri – Kansas City
are pleased to host
The
Eighth International Post Keynesian Workshop
Summer School: June 19 – 24, 2004
Conference: June 26 – June 29, 2004
Kansas City, MISSOURI
The Summer School
As students around the
world have awakened to the empty promise of mainstream economic curricula, the
University of Missouri – Kansas City, the Journal of Post Keynesian Economics,
and the Center for Full Employment and Price Stability (C-FEPS) have stepped up
to the challenge to offer a summer school program that provides an alternative.
The School will provide a rigorous training in both the theoretical and applied
aspects of Post Keynesian economic theory. It will also deal with meaningful
prescriptive policies relevant to REAL WORLD phenomena and, in the spirit of
pluralism, will provide a forum for intellectual discourse that spans a variety
of disciplines.
The program is being
organized by Professors Paul Davidson, Jan Kregel, L. Randall Wray and Mathew
Forstater.
Admission is open to graduate students and recent Ph.D.'s. C-FEPS has offered to
provide a number of scholarships that will cover student tuition fees and room
and board.
This year C-FEPS will make available a very limited number of competitive
travel stipends offered on the basis of merit and need. They will cover only a
portion of the costs of travel to and from the workshop.
Summer School Application Procedure:
Applicants should send an email to
tchernevap@umkc.edu with:
1)
Their CV,
2)
1-2 page statement of what each student hopes to get out of the Post
Keynesian Summer School, and
3)
a statement indicating familiarity with heterodox and Post Keynesian
economics.
These materials will serve as the application for both the summer school and for
the travel stipends. In addition, students will have the opportunity to attend
the Post Keynesian Conference, immediately following the Summer School at a
reduced cost.
Please, send the materials to Pavlina R. Tcherneva at the email below. A
committee of representatives of the Journal of Post Keynesian Economics
and UMKC’s Economics Department will screen all applicants and notify
participants no later than March 31, 2004.
Summer School Application submission deadline: February 15, 2004
Costs
C-FEPS will offer a number
of stipends for Summer School participants, which will cover all breakfasts,
lunches and accommodations from Saturday, June 19, to Thursday, June 24, 2003 at
the UMKC residence hall during the summer school. In addition, C-FEPS will host
one welcome and one farewell dinner, but students should budget for the
remaining dinners. C-FEPS will also provide very few and highly
competitive travel stipends.
If summer school students
decide to stay for the conference (June 26-29, 2004), they can take advantage of
